Hi all! I've created this blog to chronicle our trip to Alaska on board the Disney Wonder, June 2-9.
A little about me (for those who don't know me)... I'm Carrie and I'm traveling on this trip with my DD, Grace, and my mom, who my daughter calls, GG.
My mom and I have been on 4 cruises so far: the first an Alaskan Inside Passage on the (old) Regal Princess, followed by a western Caribbean on Royal Caribbean's Enchantment, then Scandinavia/Russia on Royal Caribbean's Jewel, during its inaugural season, and finally to Alaska for a southbound cruise-tour on the Coral Princess. All of these were in a balcony cabin and the last one was 9 years ago!
I'm not a go, go, go kind of person. I like Alaska for the whale watching. So, this trip wasn't filled with ziplines or white-water trips (though I did do the latter on my last Alaskan trip in Haines and also took a Helicopter tour to Mendenhall the first trip). This trip was more laid back and slightly geared more towards my daughter, too. Please realize that the posts on my blog are very much my own opinion, and to each their own. Other people may not agree with my thinking, but this is what worked for us...given my limited budget and the activities we're limited to because of the age and small size of my daughter. Yes, there's a ton to do in Alaska, but for my DD's first trip, we smelled the roses, so to speak.
We did the FE exchange on board. FE stands for fish extender and it refers to the fish outside of the cabin, where they put any paperwork from the cruise. A hanging pocket thing hangs from it to do a sort of secret santa type exchange with other cruisers onboard. It was a lot of fun! (No idea why this is bold, it's not bolded in draft mode.)
BTW...I may have been an English major, with a writing emphasis to boot, but my writing is lackadaisical and chock full of too many or too few commas. I once heard that as long as you understand the English language and how to use it properly, then you can butcher it any way you like. And I do. Often.
Each day of the cruise has its own page and the pages are listed in the right-hand column. :D You can also click on a photo to enlarge it.
FYI: When I respond to posts, my icon is a dog named Holly. :D
